Organized for Learning

Organized for Life!

Workshops for Students and Teachers:

Organized for Learning - Organized for Life is a 60 minute workshop that has currently been presented to over 2100 children and their teachers. It is presented in each classroom and teaches a 6 step system for organizing and maintaining student space. This system is designed to generalize to each classroom in the school, providing a universal system that increases productivity and executive function skills.

K - 2 graders are introduced to pre-organizing skill development. Older grades learn the steps and generalize them to classroom transitions, homework systems, and long term project planning. Middle and high school students learn the ever more complex skills of project management, time management, and being a responsible student.

Program Objectives:

  • Name the 6 universal organizing steps
  • Apply the steps to each unique environment
  • Utilize a cue sheet for maintenance
  • Generalize the 6 steps to more complex tasks with increased mastery

Curriculum Impact:

The ability to organize time, supplies, and task sequences impacts every academic subject and every child's ability to perform up to their potential within any structured program setting.
Taking time to focus on the process involved makes the concept of being organized transparent, and creates a simple structure that can be applied universally to every organizing task that the child faces.
With conscious repetition, using a consistent and simple framework, the skill of organizing becomes automatic, freeing the learner to concentrate and apply all their attention to creating and learning.
